Honest over comfortable
We'll tell you when a path looks hard, when your resume isn't working, or when your plan has a gap. That's more useful than reassurance.
About
Sleek Careers is built on the belief that good career guidance has to be honest, context-specific, and actually human — not a framework handed to everyone.
Brian Shane
Founder & Career Counsellor
Brian spent over a decade working across industries and countries — tech, healthcare, education, and professional services — watching talented people get stuck not because they lacked ability, but because nobody had helped them think clearly about where they were going and why.
He built Sleek Careers because he was once the person who needed this and couldn't find the right thing. Most career services were either too generic ("follow your passion"), too transactional (just fixing a resume), or too expensive to access without already having a clear direction.
The work here is different. Sessions are grounded in what's actually true for the person in front of us — their constraints, their history, their context — not in a coaching script or a personality type.
Based in Calgary, Alberta. Experience working with clients across Canada, the UK, and internationally.
Four principles that shape every session.
We'll tell you when a path looks hard, when your resume isn't working, or when your plan has a gap. That's more useful than reassurance.
Your situation is not the same as the last person we worked with. Generic advice is cheap. Context-specific guidance takes longer but actually helps.
Good career decisions take the time they take. We don't push urgency or productivity culture. We help you move at the pace that's realistic for your life.
Exploration is a means to an end. Sessions are designed to move you from thinking to deciding to doing — not to keep you in reflection indefinitely.
Choosing a direction after school. First job strategy. Articulating experience from non-linear paths.

We don't place you with employers or earn commission from hiring. We help you figure out where to aim and how to position yourself — the application is yours.
Career decisions are emotional and we take that seriously. But this is not mental health support. If therapy would genuinely help alongside this work, we'll say so directly.
We don't teach you how to go viral or turn your profile into a personal brand machine. We help you say something true and useful to the right people.
